Stripe payment links

A payment link takes the client to Stripe to enter their details and pay by card. You create it in TrainerStudio from a product and a billing plan. It can be a link for a specific client or a generic link to share before you know who is going to buy.

Go to Business -> Products, find the product you want to sell and press View prices. On the right price, press Generate payment link.

If you already know which client is going to pay, choose Link for a client, select the client and apply a discount if needed. TrainerStudio creates the transaction already linked to that person and gives you the Stripe link to send them.

If you want to post the same link on WhatsApp, Instagram, email or a landing page, choose Generic link. In this case you do not have to pick a client. Stripe asks for the name, email, phone if applicable and card during checkout.

With generic links you can leave the Create client automatically after payment option turned on. When Stripe confirms the payment, TrainerStudio looks for an existing client with the buyer's email. If it finds one, it assigns the transaction to that client. If it does not and the option was on, it creates a new client with the details received from Stripe.

If you do not turn on that option, or if the client cannot be created, the transaction stays pending assignment. You can review it later from Transactions.

Once the link is created, TrainerStudio shows it so you can copy it. It does not open automatically because you will usually send it to the client by WhatsApp, email, chat or direct message.

After the payment

When the client pays, Stripe notifies TrainerStudio and the transaction is updated. If it was a one-time payment, it is marked as completed. If it was a subscription, it becomes active and Stripe will attempt the following charges.

If the client does not finish checkout, the transaction may stay pending. You can resend the link or contact the client. With generic links, the buyer's correct details arrive from Stripe when the payment is confirmed, not from an existing client record in TrainerStudio.

If Stripe cannot collect the payment, you will see the issue in TrainerStudio. To see the exact reason for a card failure, an invoice or a dispute, open Stripe settings.

One-time payment or subscription

The link behaves according to the billing plan you chose. With a one-time payment, the client pays once. With a subscription, the first payment starts the recurring cycle.
