How is the compliance % calculated?

The compliance % answers a simple question: is this client training what I program for them?

Compliance = completed items ÷ programmed items

An item is anything the client can mark as done on their day: exercises, tasks, forms and metrics — including each individual exercise in a superset or a circuit.

It is the same number throughout TrainerStudio: in your client list, in each client's profile and in the app the client sees. If your client sees 80%, you see 80%.

What it is for: spotting cancellations before they happen

A client almost never cancels from one day to the next. First they stop training — they skip a day, then a week— and weeks later they cancel. The compliance % makes that drift visible while there is still time:

  • High, stable compliance → engaged client. Reinforce it: celebrate the streak, raise the challenge.
  • Falling compliance → 🚨 risk signal. The lower it goes, the more likely that client is to end up cancelling. This is the time to message them, not to wait.

That is why the client list shows you three windows: 7, 30 and 90 days. Comparing them tells you the trend at a glance:

ReadingWhat it means
7d ≪ 30dThey are dropping off this week — act now, it is when they are easiest to win back
7d ≈ 30d ≈ 90dStable, whether high or low
7d ≫ 30dThey are bouncing back — reinforce it

The colors follow the same idea: green from 60%, amber from 40% and red below that — red means "this client needs a conversation this week".

What to do when it drops

The data is only worth anything if you act. When you see a client's 7d drop:

  1. Message them in the chat before changing anything: very often it is an injury, a trip or a bad week.
  2. Check their calendar in their profile (compliance tab): the day-by-day calendar tells you whether they miss whole days or leave workouts half done.
  3. Adjust the plan: if they leave sessions half done, there is probably too much volume; if they miss specific days, maybe the schedule does not suit them. A plan at 70% compliance retains better than a perfect plan at 20%.

How it is calculated

It counts everything the client can mark as done: exercises, tasks, forms and metrics. In supersets and circuits, each exercise counts separately — if your client completes 7 of the 8 exercises in a circuit, it scores 7/8, not zero. A day with 10 items and 9 done contributes 90% — partial effort counts.

The number is designed to be fair, so that when it drops it is genuinely because the client is training less, not because of noise: the messages and reminders you send them do not penalize them, rest days and future days are not included, neither are days you hide from the client, and in routines with daily options only the option they chose counts, not all the alternatives.

Periods: the client list uses rolling 7/30/90-day windows; the client profile opens on the last 30 days (with 7/90-day, all-time or custom range filters); and the client sees their compliance for the last 30 days in their app — exactly your 30d column.

Quick questions

Does their compliance drop if I send them a reminder? No. Messages are not "completable" and do not count.

Why did I used to see different numbers in my app and in the client's? Until July 2026 each screen used its own formula and period. Now they all share the same calculation and the same 30-day window.

How often is it updated? The client list is recalculated automatically several times an hour; the client profile and the client app, instantly.
