Customize your app
When a client opens your app, the first thing they see is your brand. The name on the home screen, the icon, the logo in the header, and the colors. All of this can be configured in a few minutes from Settings > Customize App.
What you can customize
| Element | What it is | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|
| App name | The name that appears under the icon on the phone | Client's home screen |
| App icon | The square image shown on the phone (192x192 px) | Client's home screen |
| Header logo | Horizontal logo displayed at the top of the app (600x80 px) | Client app header |
| Primary color | Color applied to buttons, links, and highlighted elements | Throughout the client app |
Step by step
- Go to Settings > Customize App.
- Enter your app name (for example, your business name or personal brand).
- Upload your icon (192x192 pixels, square format). If you don't have one, you can use your logo cropped into a square.
- Upload your header logo (600x80 pixels, horizontal format). This appears at the top of the app.
- Choose your primary color using the color picker. This color is applied to buttons, links, and interactive elements throughout the app.
- Click Save changes.
Changes are applied immediately. The next time your client opens the app they will see your brand.
Image recommendations
App icon (192x192 px)
- Use a square image that is simple and recognizable at small sizes.
- Avoid long text: at 192 pixels it won't be legible.
- Recommended formats: PNG or JPG.
- If you use a transparent background, note that some phones apply a white or black background by default.
Header logo (600x80 px)
- Horizontal, wide format.
- Works best with a transparent background (PNG) so it blends with the header color.
- Make sure it reads clearly in both light and dark modes.
How to choose a primary color
The primary color is applied to buttons, links, progress bars, and other interactive elements. Choose a color that:
- Represents your brand.
- Has sufficient contrast with white (avoid light yellows or very soft pastel colors).
- Is consistent with your logo and visual identity.
TrainerStudio's default color is #EB5E41 (orange). You can change it to any color using the picker or by typing the hex code directly.
Client feature settings
In addition to the visual side, on this same screen you can enable or disable features that affect what your clients can do in the app:
File uploads
- Enabled: your clients can attach photos and videos to exercises (useful for them to send you technique videos).
- Disabled: clients cannot attach files.
Exercise tracking
Controls whether your clients can log their weights, reps, and sets:
- Always: the client can freely add sets and variables to any exercise, even ones you haven't prescribed.
- Enabled: the client can only log results for exercises you have prescribed.
- Disabled: the client cannot log results. They only see the plan.
If you work with independent clients who train on their own, "Always" or "Enabled" are the best options. If you prefer that the client simply follows instructions without logging anything, use "Disabled".
Chat with trainer
- Enabled: your clients can message you directly from TrainerStudio.
- Disabled: the chat does not appear in the client app.
Frequently asked questions
Do my clients need to do anything to see the changes? No. Changes are applied automatically. The next time they open the app they will see the new settings.
Can I change these settings at any time? Yes. You can go back to Settings > Customize App and modify whatever you need as many times as you like.
I don't have a logo or icon — what should I do? You can start without them and add them later. The app will work with the default values. However, we recommend setting them up as soon as possible: having your client see your brand builds trust and professionalism.
Does the primary color affect my trainer dashboard? No. The primary color only applies to the app your clients see. Your trainer dashboard keeps TrainerStudio's standard design.
What exact size should the images be?
- Icon: 192x192 pixels (square)
- Header logo: 600x80 pixels (horizontal)
If you upload images of a different size, they will be resized automatically, but the result may not be optimal.
