Detailed descriptions in training blocks

Blocks are the fundamental building pieces of any training program in TrainerStudio. Each block represents a phase of the session (warm-up, main work, cool-down) and contains exercises, circuits, supersets, or other elements.

In addition to the name and exercises, each block has an optional description field where you can write detailed instructions with rich formatting. Your clients will see these descriptions directly in their app.

Two ways to edit the description

Inline editor

The fastest way. Click directly on the field that says "Add instructions..." and start typing. The text is saved automatically when you click outside the field.

Full editor (pencil icon)

For formatted descriptions, click the pencil icon that appears next to the description. A full editor opens with a toolbar that includes:

  • Text formatting: Bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough
  • Headings: Three levels (H1, H2, H3) to organize sections
  • Lists: Bullet points, numbered lists, and blockquotes
  • Links: Insert links to videos, files, or any external resource

Click Save when you are done.

One of the most useful features is the ability to insert links in descriptions. You can link to:

  • YouTube or Vimeo videos with exercise demonstrations
  • PDF files with detailed guides or instructions
  • Any external resource that helps your client

How your client sees it

All the formatting you add is preserved in the client's app. Headings, lists, and links are displayed exactly as you wrote them.

Practical tips

  • Be specific: Include sets, reps, rest times, and any other relevant detail
  • Use headings: They visually organize instructions when they are long
  • Use lists: They are easier to read than long paragraphs
  • Link resources: If you have a reference video or guide, link it directly
  • Each block is independent: You can have different descriptions for warm-up, main work, and cool-down
